Andras Lofts Welcomes Stage School Rose Bruford College to Belfast

In a boost for the local film and TV industry, internationally acclaimed drama school Rose Bruford College has set up campus at Andras Lofts, to deliver their Foundation Course in Acting for Screen.

Andras Lofts are modern urban work spaces, located on Great Victoria Street in the heart of Belfast, offering businesses and organisations modern, flexible offices and work space for a range of different uses.

The College, renowned for training and producing professional actors, will be running its Foundation course from the Lofts, providing local actors with the skills needed for working in our burgeoning film and television industry.

The Andras Lofts have been created by multi-award-winning hospitality group, Andras Hotels, with the aim of offering centrally-based work space with flexible terms. The highly creative spaces feature an industrial aesthetic, featuring exposed brick and vaulted ceiling style space, designed by Phillip Rodgers Interiors. They have LED and feature lighting, carpet flooring, private break-out areas and kitchens, access control, power distribution, high speed broadband to the building and loft access to all floors.

Niamh Dowling, Head of School of Performance at Rose Bruford College said:

“We are absolutely delighted with our new studios spaces at Andras Lofts. Its central location is ideal for us, as it is close to all arterial routes and is very accessible. The studios are in the creative atmosphere of a converted warehouse space which has been beautifully converted.

We see Belfast as an integral location due to the strength of the local film industry and the extensive pool of talented actors, directors and tv and film industry in Northern Ireland. It is the perfect location for our dedicated course, to provide the fundamentals of acting for screen to young actors before going on to next stage of their vocational training whether that be undergraduate or postgraduate study.

The Course runs for 6 months full time and our intake this year will be 20 students, ranging in age from 18 to 38, and from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities.  The September intake is full and the next intake will be March 2022”

Rajesh Rana, Director of Andras House ltd, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the arts sector by accommodating Rose Bruford’s Belfast studio in Andras Lofts.

“Great Victoria Street is a great location for this initiative, with the history of the music hall theatres in the area and of course the Grand Opera House just across the road.

“When we created the Andras lofts concept, we realised there is a real demand for a new type of space which combines loft-style, post-industrial architecture with flexible tenures and services.

“The architecture in Andras Lofts is stunning, with vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls and structural columns. Our interior designer, Philip Rodgers Interiors, took a minimalist approach, slotting in new LED lighting and services without overwhelming the building aesthetic.

“The flexible terms contain options for occupiers and enhanced services that are not normally contained in a traditional lease.

“We have just completed a major refurbishment of the building and have two of the loft units available for immediate occupation”.

Niamh concluded “We are excited to start this new partnership with Andras Lofts and to welcome our new students in the coming weeks.”
