Purpose of Job : To ensure the cleanliness and correct preparation of mis-en-place, set up of the restaurant prior to and after service, ensuring the guests are warmly welcomed, orders taken efficiently and served to standard to ensure guest satisfaction.
Main Duties:
- Preparation of restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Guests to be welcomed in a warm, friendly and courteous manner at all times.
- Meals and drinks to be served efficiently and with minimum delay/ wastage.
- Responsible for own station, replenishment of crockery, cruets, cutlery etc.
- Tables reset for next service.
- Mis-en place prepared for all service periods, including room service.
- Answering the telephone in accordance with company standards.
- Accurately taking telephone room service orders in accordance with company standards.
- To ensure the correct delivery of room service to bedrooms within the stated time.
- The opening and service of bottles of wine.
- To ensure dishes leaving the kitchen are to appropriate standards of presentation.
- To ensure drinks leaving the bar are to appropriate standards of presentation and garnished accurately.
- To ensure the correct implementation of the customer relations policy.
- To wear clean, suitable uniform at all times.
- To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
- Deal with guest complaints in a friendly and efficient manner ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.
- To assume responsibility for station tables, ensuring billing is carried out accurately and payment received or signatures for room charges obtained.
- To assume responsibility for accepting bookings and to keep the booking diary up to date.
- To maintain front of house service areas.
- To maintain back of house service areas.
- Working knowledge of POS system.
- To maintain cash float to the company approved limit and to take responsibility for shortfalls.
- Upkeep of the equal opportunities policy to ensure that there is a neutral working environment.
- To participate in any training and personnel exercises designed to improve standards and performance.
- Work in accordance with standard procedures within each department.
- To keep staff/work areas tidy, safe and report any hazard, accident, loss or damage to management & observe all requirements under the health & safety legislation.
